Tired Stefania Belmondo
- The
fact that the whole class start together decides my tactic. A very
cheerful Stefania tells birken.no when we meet here in the starting area
after she had a light trainingtour in the tracks up to Skramstadsetra.
Double Gold Medal Winner from Salt Lake City Olympics says she has
respect for the long run across the mountain.

Preperations
Stefania tell us she hasn’t prepared especially for the Birkebeiner.
This is her last race, and she is very tired in the end of the season,
she tells us with a grin. This is just an ordinary race for her. It’s
her first long race in the classical style. That will be a hard task.
She thinks the race might be a bit long for her.
Norwegian favourites
Anita
Moen and Bente Skari are her favourites. She think other Norwegian
skiers also can do well, since the know the race and the track from
before.
Italian
food
A lot
of Birkebeiners are concerned about what they eat before the race.
Belmondo prefers pasta, vegetables and fruit. Italian pizza comes in
second line, Stefania Belmondo laughs.
Tactics
The
Italian crosscountry-start hasn’t made a special tactic. She underline
the fact that it’s mass-start. That’s the reason she haven’t made a
plan. She will look at her competitors and plan the race after them.
Birken.no wishes Stefania, who don’t have a star-attitude at all, good
luck.
