Bente Skari excited before the start

The winner of this years Cross Country World Cup, Bente Skari is excited in front of the last WC-race in the Birkebeiner-tracks. She has started the Birkebeiner once before, in 1998, and is expecting a better result than the last time, when she came in 6 minutes after the winner Anita Moen. It’s good to have a long race in the WC, and it’s good for Norway that it’s a race we know from before.

Second time around
Bente Skari has participated in the Birkebeiner once before and partly knows the tracks from Sjusjøen and down to Lillehammer. Anita Moen is one of the biggest favourites, and Bente is trying to follow her all the way and overtake her in the end. – I’m looking a bit forward to it, and wonder how it is going to be over the mountain. I haven’t participtated since 1998 but I think it will work out well.

Free of problems
Skipreperation has destroyed several races. Bente hopes that the prepearation won’t be a problem. If the temperature stays a bit below 0° Celsius, preperation won’t be a problem. But if it get close to 0, the difference between Rena and up on the mountain be larger.

The season in general
- Up to now the season has been well with victory in the World Cup, but the Olympics could have been better. But all in all, I’m  satisfied.

– I train 6 days a week, twice daily, and it’s important to fun when you train and being in an enviroment you’re happy with, Bente Skari tells us.

-          The food I eat the day before the Birkebeiner is oatmealporrage and sandwiches, Skari concludes.
