Alsgaards tactic for the WorldCup-Ending was to try to follow in the start and then decide the whole race in the end. –You have to consider your situation during the whole race against what the other competitors do, its very difficult to make a plan for so long a race.

- I was eager win this race, so it didn’t matter for me that Elofsson made among the top 10 and won the World Cup. I am very satisfied with the result.

Thomas Alsgaard had a nice trip over the mountain, but it was very hard, even though weather and the trackconditions were good. –It was a tough, but good ending of the World Cup. The only problem for small nations is to have enough crew to hand drinks and to have enough service for their runners. This is no problem for the Norwegian runners.

That Norway won the five first places in “The Birk”, is because we have a very strong classical style team, Alsgaards thinks. Many of the runners has also participated the Birkebeiner before and know the track and enviroment. He also think that the Norwegian participants are a bit more motivated then the foreigners.

- I’ve participated once before, and its not unrealistic that I will go at it again, Alsgaard states to birken.no
