Erling Jevne back next year

Erling Jevne was one of the big favourites before this years race, but his body wasn’t up to it this time. Jevne ended on 9^th place, came in right behind Elofsson. But he promises to be back next year. With his backpack on, as is usual for the Birkebeiner-Race.

Heavier without the backpack
There never became 8th straight victories for Erling Jevne. He says til birken.no: It was hard, but I made it to the finish. As usual he has only himself to blame for the bad result. He had very good skies, but with a “bad” body it can’t be done. In beforehand he had planned to go as hard as he could, but says I got very hard.

Back next year
Next year Erling will be back, with the backpack. Is professional career is definitively over, but in the Birkebeinertracks we can expect him back for many years to come. He will go in eliteclass next year as well.

It won’t be a big surprise if Erling Jevne wins his 8^th Birkebeinervictory next year. Its probable that the seniorcitizen Jevne will fight for first place.
