Convincing by Anita Moen

Anita Moen let there be no doubt on who the Birkebeinerqueen is. From start to finish she performed a convincing race with a respectable time: 2,43,39. She was in lead on all the measurestations and there was never any doubt on who was going to win.

Anita told on the press conferance after the race that she felt the victory in this years World Cup as on of her biggest efforts ever.

 First WorldCup-victory without sprint
Anita Moen was very satisfied with winning a long WorldCup-race. From before she has won two WorldCup-races, both sprint. Nice to og the Birkebeiner without the backpack as well. –It’s not that hard on your back. birken.no ask her what she think about the Birkebeiner being part of the World Cup, she replies: GREAT!!

Tactics
Moen went most of the race alone in the lead, but this was not something she’d planned. She tells that  Hilde Gjermundshaug Pedersen got in lead early. Hilde eventuelly asked Anita to lead and pull. She pulled from the rest and they let her go. In the end of the race it got harder and a leading that was two minutes at most got reduced to half a minute when she crossed the finish line. This was not the strategy, but when she got the gap, she used the opportunity, a glad but exhausted Anita Moen says.
